Iago - Music Video

Student Major Project (Music, Film, and Animation collaboration)
IAGO is a telling tale about crossing lines, and boundaries and doing what you must to get where you want to be.

Starring Gemma, a young adolescent musician who feels the pressure of having yet to make their mark on the world. Willing to do anything it takes, she dons the name and role of Shakespeare's Machiavelli, Iago, and is invited by a devil to strike a deal for the fame she desires so much. In this trek through the underworld, she is confronted with sinister entities and must overcome trials to prove how much she craves success. At her destination sits a mischievous devil strumming his guitar atop a towering throne. The guitar passes over to Gemma, and to seal the deal, she plays along to the devil's tune as blood streaks down from her fingertips. With the deed done, she is thrown back into the elevator and with the closing of the door she transforms into a darker self, but at least she's now ready for the paparazzi.

Our major project consisted of a music album created by the project lead, Gemma Sidney, and one song (Iago) was chosen to be made into a music video with both filmed and animated sections. The film student on our team managed the filmed parts, while I took the lead on the animated section as the sole animation student.
There was a lot of ambition in the ideation of this project that would end up being cut or simplified to fit into the production timeline. So even with limited time, limited animators, and limited experience, we still managed to produce a standout piece among the student projects.
