Mega Victreebel

In my first posted Pokémon artwork, starring Mudkip, I explored using graphics to create a design from an illustration. I hoped this would give the artwork a more unique identity than painting a background or leaving it blank. Continuing with this idea, I wanted to illustrate and create a design of the newly introduced Mega Evolutions for the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Mega Victreebel
Following from Mega Dragonite, I was more confident in cropping the Pokémon to create interesting perspectives. Originally, I wanted to draw a high-angle close-up of Victreebel, emphasising its mouth. In the end, I managed to still draw focus on its head and mouth by centering it, using the body and large leaves to frame it by narrowing the white space around its head. This composition was filling up the majority of the space already, so I decided to keep the graphics simple, only using the Pokéball icon as another frame for the head.
